Queen of Hosting Sock Swaps?

One of the time consuming aspects about hosting a sock swap is processing applications, especially when a swap is as large as HOGWARTS SOCK SWAP TWO.  For the past two weeks, I have been sucked into the abyss of endless Hogwart Applications and doing nothing but signing people up…..150 participants.  I was beginning to wonder if I would ever be able to knit again.  Or, even worse, if I would remember HOW to knit.

I really don’t mind spending my time arranging the swap because I know how much fun these Harry Potter fans will be having in the upcoming weeks.  And, I especially didn’t mind when I received this FABULOUS package from my Hogwart Pal, Cheryl, who has dubbed me QUEEN OF HOSTING SOCK SWAPS.  Cheryl has participated in the last three swaps that I have hosted and has recently enrolled in Hogwarts as a Second Year student.  She is a pretty special gal and just look at how she spoiled me……………..

First, we have lovely GRYFFINDOR socks knit in my House colors.

Then, we have fun stitch markers in GRYFFINDOR colors!

Then Cheryl gifted me with all these wonderful things.  Yep, I’m done spoiled rotten I am!

Charmed Knits by Alison Hansel

Pony Pearl Needles in various sizes

Harry Potter Sorting Hat Key Chain (and yes, it told me I was a Gryffindor!)

A fun FROG accesory case (I recently admired this in Patternworks)

And, ladies…………………the yarn, oh my, the lovely yarn!  Lovely Lorna Laces Shepherd Sock and another yummy yarn skein in a colorway called ‘Black Cherries’.  I am sorely tempted to pull all the socks that are currently on my needles off and toss them out the window to cast on immediately with this lovely yarn!  My favorite colors!  My favorite yarn!  My summer commitment is to work only on WIP…………….shall I break my commitment?  Shall I?

And last of all, I present to you MY CROWN.  I wanted hubby to take a picture of me wearing it but I can’t get the fella to slow down enough to do so……………………….

So the question I ask is,”Do YOU think it is worth it to be Queen of Hosting Sock Swaps?

  1. Hail to Her Royal Highness Queen of Sock Swaps…..I am your humble subject, maker of socks to the chosen. Sender of goodies to the gifted. I pledge my loyalty to serve, to supply socks, to join swaps and to always have fun.

  2. Oh, my! Isn’t it wonderful to be so richly rewarded for hard work and dedication? Enjoy your royal treasures, Your Majesty.

  3. It’s definitely worth the effort as knitters really appreciate what you have done – great job!

  4. That Black Cherries yarn looks like it’s from The Knittery in Australia. One of my *favorite* yarns; aren’t the colors divine! I second the motion to make you Queen. ::curtsey:: What a great pal!

  5. What a wonderful gift but I’m sure you deserve it Your Majesty 🙂

I love that black cherry yarn, can I ask what it is?

  6. ohh yummy package! What fantastic socks!! Looks like all that work was worth it to me 🙂

  7. You lucky one! I’ve been admiring the Black Cherries colorway yarn for some time now. You are very lucky. I see you’re on Ravelry too. I’ll catch up with you there!

  8. You very much deserve all the goodies for the hard work you’ve been putting in on all the swaps! I very much wanted to sign up for the next round of the Hogwarts swap, but I was worried my swap partner would not get the attention he/she deserved given all the craziness with the wedding coming up soon (38 days!). I certainly hope you do another round!

  9. Thanks for the feedback on the RPM socks! The yarn I have is indeed self-striping so it ought to work. I hope mine for my pal turn out even half as nice as the ones your pal knit for you — and such wonderful gifties as well!

  10. Lovely package… thanks so much for hosting the Hogwarts Swap. 🙂 It was my very first swap and I had a great time. 🙂

  11. As a first year student at Hogwarts….I already know that I’m going to have fun. Many thanks for your hard work.
